How well will we do this year?
07/02/2007

This year should be a lot more open than the last three. For those three years everybody has been playing catch up to the Jenvey car.

This year is far more uncertain in terms of championship contention in both car and driver, last year the GAC/Storm/MK5 Scarab/Challenger cars were not all that far behind Sam in terms of pace.

Through the grapevine everybody who has tested their new suspension systems have reported improved corner and corner exit speed. Although there will be testing in all the camps only in the races will we see how big a stride people have made; for this is the only place where true testing is “proof of pudding”.

If you think not then look at formula one winter testing, all too often cars have flown at these tests only to be nowhere in the seasons racing. The only real benchmark is last years lap times in the same car with the old suspension; driver’s ability will shine through though and maybe even flatter to deceive at times.

Overall though when the right setup has been attained and the driver has the confidence in the car, the cream will rise to the top. This year will obviously see most of the same faces at the front; there will however also be some raised eyebrows. Not only in awe but, some bewilderment too. To name but a few; Ryan Lindsay will hopefully continue his meteoric rise to the front of the grid and race results this year. Alan Robinson makes a very welcome return the fold along with his lovely and ever smiling wife Natalie.

Steve Ough is getting lighter all the time and along with our new suspension will be surely be back to where he belongs on the grid. Simon Readman is another quick driver who can shine through on his day, Detlef Bremher a real nice bloke and a rarity. A German with a sense of humour! Although Detlef is not as fast as many drivers he must like British Vee as he comes over here so often; bringing a very welcome touch of European flavour with him. This year Team AHS will be springing a good few surprises.

More to follow shortly.
