Alan Trained as mechanical engineer before becoming involved in the adaptation of cars with various projects such as a Lotus twin cam Ford Thames 5cwt van ! and a Rolls Royce powered Moskivich estate !! At the age of 21 he moved on to build one offs and kit cars. The first car he built from scratch was a 2.5 TR6 powered Burlington Arrow, which was built from a set of plans (the car is still in use today). After the Austro came a Scarab Mk 2/4, then a Leastone, Currently Alan owns numerous Formula Vee’s which are rented out on a arrive and drive basis, these Vee’s consist of Leastone and Sheane Chassis powered by his very own AHS prepared engines. Alan’s involvement in Formula Vee became more intense when approximately 5 years ago he became the Formula representative for the 750 Motor Club, and member of the racing technical committee. Alan has been a committed driver, builder and developer of Formula Vee racecars for many years. He has, with a few others from the formula vee scene been the driving force within the formula and with his team on the leading edge of car and formula development. Alan can be seen at all formula vee events preparing his ‘arive and drive’ rent cars and owner driver cars. He is extremely approachable and willing to give impartial advice to anybody with a need even to the extent of helping out other competitors. |
